Welcome to the handgun page of the Lone Butte Fish and Wildlife!!

Our ranges are very multipurpose facilities that provide shooting opportunities to club members and guests. The Handgun portion of the club is available on six of the eight bays, namely 1, 2, 4, 5 (rimfire only), 6, and 7.

Bay 1

Cowboy Bay - Set up for fun stuff like shooting steel and has target stands ready for your paper targets.

Bay 2

Universal Bay - usually the home of CQB this bay is pretty bare right now but is expecting a new slab and building soon. Set up paper targets for now.

Bay 4

85 Yards Universal Bay. Set up with target stands..

Bay 5

Rimfire Bay - Rimfire Rifle and Pistols only please! Set up for fun stuff like shooting hanging steel and some lighter steel. Has target stands ready for your paper targets.

Bay 6/7

Pistol Bays - Both Bays are set up for target practice or shooting steel or setting up paper targets

All target stands and steel are the property of the Lone Butte Practical Shooters and as such be used as follows:

There is a difference between rifle steel and pistol steel, do not use rifles on pistol steel!
DO NOT MOVE STEEL FROM ONE BAY TO ANOTHER!
Do not shoot steel closer than 10 meters, there is a definite danger of ricochet!
do not shoot steel targets with high powered or magnum handgun rounds such as; 357mag, 44mag, 500 etc.) special rounds are okay such as 38special or 44 special
Do not staple targets to; posts or cross bars of permanent target stands.
use target stands provided used cardboard targets are usually available at bay 6 for every ones use to tape your targets to.
provide your own stapler and tape
clean up after yourself, this means bring back targets and portable target stands.

The steel and target stands are left at the range for people to use, if equipment becomes damaged, we have to repair or replace it or it simply goes away. Replacement or repair costs the club money we then cannot spend on other things and if equipment goes away then that is less fun for everyone.
