About Us

The Lone Butte Fish and Wildlife Association was incorporated in the early 80’s. Its first name was the Lone Butte Rod and Gun Club. This entity had its meetings at the Lone Butte Community Hall and had a shooting facility on Taylor lake road. Eventually in 1982 a 30 acre property was leased for the present day range. The club name was changed to the Lone Butte Fish and Wildlife Association to better handle the diverse recreational community. For now we still hold our meetings in the Lone Butte Community Hall, but hope soon to have our own clubhouse at the Outdoor Range.

The LBFWA Outdoor Range has; in Bay 1 a Cowboy Action Bay propped to look like a building in any old western town and all types of firearms may be used. Bay 2, a Universal Bay where all types of firearms can be used and a new shelter will be coming soon. Bay 3 is the rifle bay up to 200 yards but stands are set at 25, 50, 100, and 200 yards, but please no handgun or shotgun on this bay and only rifle steel allowed no closer than 100 yards. Bay 4 is another Universal bay where all type of firearms can be used out to 85 yards. Bay 5 is the Rimfire Bay for both long gun or pistol and you will find some lighter steel on this bay. Bay 6 is a pistol bay where you will usually find our plate rack and other steel or target stands for paper. Bay 7 is also a pistol bay and is primarily our IPSC bay, there is a lot of steel set up and sometimes a stage is left up for people to try out. Finally Bay 8 is our Trap Bay, this Bay is limited to Shotgun, there are manual throwers for casual use or come down on trap practice days and try your hand at the automatic throwers.. The indoor range is used by Air-Rifle, Rinfire, and Pistol (No magnum rounds) years round on certain days and is on another site from the outdoor range.
